There is a mass of small properties in this right-bank region, which gives wines that are a great standby for those who like to drink reasonable Claret on a regular basis. Uncomplicated red wines, for the greater part made of the Merlot grapes, give much pleasure when drunk relatively young, full of fruit and charm.
Côtes de Blaye is a pretty countryside, green and hilly, with mixed farming and an unspoilt feeling of rustic France. Cooperatives play a large part in the wine-making, selling a great deal of their produce to the Bordeaux negociants.
Chateau Les Martins is a 17.5 ha property located in Cars (Gironde-Bordeaux).
Its owner, Jean Michel Bergeron, makes wines exclusively marketed by the legendary négociant Benoit Calvet.
This red wine has excellent depth and concentration with silky tannins and lovely fruit characters. It is smokey on the length, and the nose exhibits macerated ripe cherry and berry fruit aromas.
Cépages: 75% Merlot - 15% Cabernet Sauvignon - 10% Malbec
