Gran Diezmo Crianza is made from 100% destemmed Mazuelo grapes, aged 14 months in Limousin’s oak casks and thereafter in bottle.
Mazuelo, known in France as Carignan and in the rest of Spain as Cariñena, is a variety that produces robust, well-balanced wines.
It is the grape which adds colour and body to the Rioja grape mix.
Mazuelo also is used to counterbalance the lightness of Grenache, and is the base of the outstanding scarce wines from Priorato and Terra Alta.
It produces high yields, is thick-skinned, rich in colour, and high in tannins and acidity.
