Bordeaux ’s very beautiful hinterland, the Dordogne, leading back into the maze of valleys cut in the stoney upland of Périgord, was pre-eminent among the ‘High Country” sources of wine once sold as Bordeaux.  
                              Lightweight claret is an exaclty apt description of Bergerac Rouge, made largely of merlot and Cabernet Franc. More importantly, all these wines are usually pleasant and good value.
