"SOLARTE"
ROSATO DEL SALENTO
PRODUCER: L.D.C SALICE
SALENTINO
IGT PUGLIA

Although this is a regions whose eonological tradition is very old one-going back, indeed, to the time of the Ancient Greeks, its wine-producing sector is one of the most productive in Italy and yet one of those with the fewest DOC wines. For some years now, however, a change in the varieties being grown has been under way; also, vineyards have been replanted in order to encourage lower yields and, specially, the cultivation of more quality-oriented grapes such as Negroamaro and Primitivo for red wines and Verdeca and Bianco d’Alessamo for whites.

The development of certain premium hilly areas (like Castel del Monte) and astute and efficient winemaking entrepreneurs will, moreover, gradually help the region lose its reputation of being merely a producer of wines for blending.

Solarte Rosato del Salento, produced in the provinces of Brindisi and Lecce, is made from Negroamaro grapes with addition of Malvasia Nera di Brindisi.

The wine is a deep pink in hue with cherry-coloured highlights - It has a characteristically fruity and delicately vinous bouquet. On the palate is dry, well balanced and flavourful, with an attractive finish.

Serving suggestions: great drunk thoughout the meal. It goes splendidly with pasta and rice dishes, hors d’oeuvres and fish soups - Ideal serving temperature: 12-14 C
