"PIROVANO" MOSCATO D'ASTI
PRODUCER: CANTINE PIROVANO
DOCG PIEMONTE

If anything, sparkling wine has benefitted even more from the advance of technology than has still white wine. Italian sparkling wine -one should distinguish between spumante, or fully sparkling, and frizzante, semi-sparkling- has seen a fantastic growth boom in recent years, mainly in response to market demand at home, in Germany and in USA.
Italy produces dry white sparkling wines from all manner of grapes. By far the most important Italian spumante grape is of course the Moscato, which is risponsible for sweet sparklers from Pantelleria to Piedmont, via various frizzante versions.
Piedmont, however, is the real home of Moscato, the two big generics here being Asti Spumante and Moscato d'Asti, both of which are currently delighting large sector of Northern Europe and USA with their sweet, light, delicately scented grapiness.
Pirovano Moscato d'Asti is obtained from Moscato Bianco grapes from the provinces of Asti, Cuneo and Alessandria.
It is yellow with golden highlights. It has a very aromatic bouquet with hints of musk.
On the palate is sweet, full, fresh and fruity.
