Bordeaux is the largest source of quality wines in the world.
Its flat countryside is attractive, if not spectacular. However, without the lush vineyards and the illustrious names of the great chateaus, there would be little to thrill the traveller.
Sandwiched between the regions of Cognac and Armagnac, Bordeaux is the largest departement in France and the wine it produces generates more revenue than any other region.
Margaux is located in the centre of the Haut-Medoc. some 28 km northwest of Bordeaux. encompassing the communes of Margauc, Cantenac, Soussans, Arsac and Labarde.
As Bernard Ginestet says in his book “Margaux’, “while other areas produce wines with pronounced characteristics which are readily identifiable, Margaux is the epitome of refinement and subtlety”.
The exquisite wines of Margaux are proof that complexity does not necessarily issue from an intense concentration of flavour.
Margaux is characterised by its silkness, not its weight. Often is quite light, but they can be among the most seductive clarets around. This is an expensive appellation, and if you go for the top wines, very expensive indeed. But you get the quality you pay for.
hateau Deyrem-Valentin is wine of fine flavour and great length and complexity. It also displays spicy oak and rich, juicy fruit with a fine structure of supple tannins
