Bodegas Lopez stands out from the Argentine wine industry as an exceptional case: since its creation (1898) is still managed by the founding family. A wise combination of ancestral traditions with constant technology improvements grant Lopez’s wines a dual condition of classic and modern at the same time.
The foundrer, Jose Lopez Rivas, born in Algarrobo, Malaga, Spain, where he devoted himself and his family to vine and olive growing, arrived to Argentina in 1886, fleeing from a destroying plague affecting European vineyards, the Phylloxera.
Bodegas Lopez own cultivated land comprises 1,000 ha of vineyards plus 97 hs of olive groves.
This aged aperitif of delicious flavour is made with Palomino and Pedro Ximenez grapes, native from Jerez de la Frontera, supported by a centennial tradition of a family devoted to fine winemaking.
It is aged in “pipas”, small oak barrels stowed in a complex ageing system called “criaderas”.
At tasting, this very dry liquorish wine releases a persistent aroma with light spice notes. Harmonic, generous sherry of velvety flavour and delicate pale golden colour, it is perfect to be served during hours d’`’ouevres, to accompany fish and shellfish, or to be drunk after meals.
