Bodegas Lopez stands out from the Argentine wine industry as an exceptional case: since its creation, more than a hundred years ago, it is still managed by the founding family.

A wise combination of ancestral traditions with constant technology improvements grant Lopez’´°`s wines a dual condition of classic and modern at the same time.

The founder, Jose Lopez Rivas, born in Algarrobo, Malaga, Spain, where he devoted himself and his family to vine and olive growing, arrived to Argentina in 1886, fleeing from a destroying plague affecting European vineyards, the Phylloxera.

In 1898 he definitely settled down in Mendoza.

In 1898 a property was acquired in General Gutierrez, where the present winery was built.

Bodegas Lopez own cultivated land comprises 1,000 ha of vineyards plus 97 ha of olive groves

RINCON FAMOSO RED:

Another Argentine classic: Sangiovese, Merlot and Malbec grapes from our Estates El Paraiso, San Carlos and Los Maitenes, were used to prepare this classic wine of ripen tannins.

It also underwent ageing in French oak casks.
