“DOMAINE ST REMY” PINOT AUXERROIS
Alsace is picturesque wine country. The ribbon of vineyards is broken by small villages, full of tall, overhanging half-timbered houses, decorated in the summer with brightly planted window boxes.
Although vines has been grown in Alsace probably since the Romans and certainly since the Merovingians in the eighth and nineth centuries, the development of the Alsace vineyards as we know it today is relatively new, dating from after the FWW.
The Appellation Controlee system reached Alsace in 1962.
Discovering Domain Saint Remy is an intimate way of exploring Rhineland history and culture. It is also to enter a beautiful property located 5km south of Colmar, where you will find all the family treasures which has been passed on from generation to generation.
Pinot Auxerrois produces some of the most readily drinkable wines in Alsace. It is no surprise that it has been such a success in London wine bars: it is very quaffable on its own as it is relatively low in alcohol, fresh-tasting, soft with a pleasing touch of acidity.
Classic matches: Pinot Blanc is a subtle foil to fish poultry and white meat.
PB is delicious with egg-based dishes: baked eggs, omelettes and quiches, also with mild cheeses.
