                 “DOMAINE ST REMY” RIESLING RESERVE
Alsace is picturesque wine country. The ribbon of vineyards is broken by small villages, full of tall, overhanging half-timbered houses, decorated in the summer with brightly planted window boxes.
Although vines has been grown in Alsace probably since the Romans and certainly since the Merovingians in the eighth and nineth centuries, the development of the Alsace vineyards as we know it today is relatively new, dating from after the FWW.
The Appellation Controlee system reached Alsace in 1962.
Discovering Domain Saint Remy is an intimate way of exploring Rhineland history and culture. It is also to enter a beautiful property located 5km south of Colmar, where you will find all the family treasures which has been passed on from generation to generation.
By general assent Riesling makes the finest wine in Alsace, a gastronomic wine par excellence. Here, the Riesling produces a wine that has medium alcohol, is bone dry with a flinty, steely taste, very fresh and often acidic when young, softening with maturity to give a super wine with mineral hints and floral notes.
Classic matches: noble and distinguishes, Riesling is ideal with fish, white meat and poultry in not too spicy cream and white wine sauce. Riesling is also perfect with exotic dishes like those with citrus, lemon, and grapefruit flavours, as well as raw fish (sushi) and dry goat’s cheese.
